Petrova reaches Pilot Pen final

08/27/2010 - New Haven, CT (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Nadia Petrova prevailed in an all-Russian semifinal Friday to reach the championship match at the $600,000 Pilot Pen Tennis event, a final hardcourt U.S. Open tune-up.

The eighth-seeded Petrova snuck past her unseeded compatriot Maria Kirilenko 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in just under two hours at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale.

Petrova's opponent in the final will be top-seeded Dane Caroline Wozniacki or fourth-seeded fellow Russian Elena Dementieva. The other semi will be staged here on Friday night.

The 28-year-old 19th-ranked Petrova will appear in her 20th career final and seek a 10th championship. The former top-10 Muscovite hasn't titled on tour since 2008, which was also the last year she reached a finale.

Saturday's winner will pocket $98,500.
